The FM Approved Automatic Air Vent Valve Threaded Ends 200PSI is designed to automatically discharge trapped air from fire protection and water distribution piping. The valve has a compact ductile iron body and cover (ASTM A536 65-45-12) with fusion-bonded epoxy external coating (typical red finish). A stainless steel float and float arm operate the orifice mechanism: as air accumulates in the valve body, the float drops and opens the orifice to release air; when water rises, the float lifts and closes the orifice, preventing water leakage.
Female threaded connections are available in NPT or BSPT for 1/2", 3/4" and 1" sizes, allowing easy installation on fire sprinkler risers, wet pipe systems, fire pump discharge headers and other water lines.
